Summary:
Readers theatre is a strategy that encourages frequent revisiting of text, which ultimately strengthens literacy skills, communication skills and social skills. Working with scripts from a wide range of reading competencies and content / interest levels, participants will explore and develop strategies to: Assess and strengthen literacy skill development Strengthen oral interpretation / reading Strengthen confidence Build fluency With a goal towards performance, readers theatre has the added benefit of giving readers authentic purpose to go behind the words, dig for meaning, and find a VOICE for each character as readers Read Beyond the Words, to read the story.
Biography:
With over three hundred workshops to her credit, she is described by workshop participants as energetic, practical, well organized, resourceful and highly motivating. Helen travels extensively throughout western Canada, Eastern USA, and Singapore, presenting seminars and workshops for educators on topics ranging from music education, computers in the classroom, to early literacy development and readers theatre.
