Title:
Literature Literacy through Drama Immersion in Upper Elementary
Topic:
Teaching literacy is difficult at any time, but by using drama immersion, classic stories can come alive.
Summary:
Every year Mary uses drama immersion to teach her Grade 4/5 children Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The students then present the story to their schoolmates and families. Drama immersion uses no scripts, but rather immerses students as players in the story. Mary will show you her techniques in a hands on drama experience. She will also show you how she uses A Christmas Carol to start discussions about Social Justice with her students.
Biography:
